George M. Cohan

Born July 4, 1878 - died  November 5, 1942
George M. Cohan a real Yankee Doodle Dandy born on the 4th of July.
Cohan made his debut at 10 in one of his father's plays, and a member of the family vaudeville act, The Four Cohans, in his teens. His first great success was "Little Johnny Jones" in 1904. He composed such permanent hits as Mary's A Grand Old Name, Yankee Doodle Dandy and Over There, the American war song of 1917.

Cohan only made a few records and unfortunately he never recorded this song commercially.
