The Hitcher is a non-stop thrill ride that is unpredictable, with a few different plot twists throughout. The performance delivered by Rutger Hauer is unforgettable and the relationship between he and protagonist, C Thomas Howell, is very convincing. Hauer's performance adds to the film's strange and surreal atmosphere and creates one of the most chilling movie villains of all time. Overall this is a kick-ass road/horror movie with excellent performances and one of the best villains of all time. ★★★
