Time Flies (1944) Tommy Handley

Time travel spoof in which music hall comedians are transported to the days of Shakespeare.

Director:

Walter Forde

Writers:

Ted Kavanagh (original screenplay), J.O.C. Orton (original screenplay)

Stars:

Tommy Handley, Evelyn Dall, George Moon

This has got to be one of the earliest time travel movies ever made. It's got it all, it's a comedy, it's a drama and it's science fiction, way ahead of it's time, if you excuse the pun. The special effects in the movie were few but good for 1944.  Just a bit of trivia, Tommy Handley, who stars, is featured on the cover of The Beatles' album "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".      ★★1/2
