Vampyr is a German film photographed by Rudolf  Maté and directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer.  The lead  actor Julian West was no actor, but a fashion journalist, a rich socialite (Baron Nicolas de Gunzburg) who financed the movie in order to get the part, the Baron never made another film. The movie is a masterpiece of mood and dreamlike atmosphere, created by these two great filmmakers, and a must see for the student of film.★★★
