Blood on the Sun (1945) Jimmy Cagney

Director:
Frank Lloyd

Writers:

Lester Cole (screenplay), Nathaniel Curtis (additional scenes)

Stars:

James Cagney, Sylvia Sidney, Porter Hall

The Tokyo Chronical prints a story the Japanese government is not too happy with. Nick Condon (James Cagney) is not about to print propaganda, he wants the truth. When Nick's friend comes into some money, this sets off a series of events that lead him to double agent Iris Hilliard (Sylvia Sidney). Nick receives some valuable information the Japanese want, enough to kill him to get it. Cagney is in top form in Blood on the Sun, and this has got to be some of Hollywood's first use of martial arts in film. The movie has plenty of action and intrigue and some great judo moves by Cagney. ★★★
