The Big Operator (1959) Mamie Van Doren

Director: Charles F. Haas (as Charles Haas)

Writers:  Paul Gallico (based on a Cosmopolitan Magazine story by), Allen Rivkin (screenplay)

Stars: Mickey Rooney, Steve Cochran, Mamie Van Doren

A crooked union boss thinks he's Mr Big as he try's to coerce his employs to do his bidding. That doesn't work so how about setting one on fire or kidnapping a boy. Mickey Rooney is great as a corrupt union boos who likes to plead the fifth. Steve Cochran is a shop steward who sees something he should not have. Mamie Van Doren plays his housewife, wow what a housewife, if I had such a women it would be hard to go to work, sorry honey. The Big Operator is a fun movie that perfectly reflects the late 1950s when the mob was under scrutiny.
